How to take good care of your con-tatto®
We love our products and we want you to keep them perfect for as long as possible. This is how you should clean them for a safe and glamorous drinking experience.
Wash after each use
Give your con-tatto® a quick wash after each use, just to prevent liquids to be stagnant. For more accurate washing, please read the next advice.
Handwash with mild soap
From time to time you may want to give your con-tatto® a proper shower. Use non-acidic soaps and rinse thoroughly in cold to lukewarm water.
No dishwashing
Our con-tatto® is made of heavy-duty materials, but please avoid washing it in the dishwasher, as it may accidentally be damaged by other kitchenware.
Towel dry
Air drying can cause calcium stains, dry your con-tatto® with a clean towel to ensure colours and finish look perfect.
Use the soft side of kitchen sponges
Do not use the abrasive side of kitchen sponges. As an alternative, you can use microfiber cloths to wash your con-tatto®.
How to clean an insulated stainless steel bottle
A con-tatto® bottle is built to last, and a few minutes of care keep both the inside hygienic and the outside looking like new. Here is the routine we recommend for daily use and for a deeper clean.
Everyday routine
- Empty the bottle as soon as you can, so drinks don't stand inside it.
- Rinse it with warm water and a drop of mild, non-acidic washing-up liquid.
- Clean the mouth and the thread with the soft side of a sponge or a microfibre cloth.
- Rinse thoroughly with cold to lukewarm water.
- Dry the outside with a clean towel and leave the bottle open until the inside is completely dry.
Deep cleaning
From time to time – or after coffee, juice or smoothies – give your bottle a more thorough wash. Use a bottle brush to reach the bottom, then rinse well. The wide 44 mm mouth makes this easy. If a smell remains, fill the bottle with warm water, let it stand, then wash it again as above.
Caps, seals and bands
Unscrew the cap after every use and wash it by hand. Pay attention to the silicone seal in the lid: this is where residue tends to collect. Let the cap dry separately before closing the bottle. The silicone band can be removed and washed in the same way. Worn parts can be replaced from our bottle accessories – Urban Cap, Sport Cap and Silicone Band.
What to avoid
- Dishwashers: other kitchenware can knock and damage the bottle, and the heat and detergents can dull the finish.
- Abrasive sponges and scourers: they scratch the colour and the soft-touch finish.
- Air drying the outside: it can leave limescale marks, so always use a towel.
- Freezing or microwaving: an insulated bottle is not designed for either.
Frequently asked questions
Can I put my con-tatto® bottle in the dishwasher?
No. Please wash it by hand with mild soap to protect the bottle and its colours.
Why does my bottle smell after carrying coffee or juice?
Residue usually collects around the lid seal and the thread. Remove the cap, wash every part by hand and let everything dry fully before closing it.
Is it safe for fizzy and acidic drinks?
Yes. The bottle is suitable for acidic and carbonated drinks and does not retain flavours. Just wash it after use.
